Some years ago, as a part of our strategic product portfolio planning, we made a decision to start investing into easily accessible, visually appealing, and most importantly informative user guides.
The first step was to hire as a Documentation Specialist (yours truly) to manage the work and select the right tools for it. As we had several thousands of pages of technical documentation in outdated formats, the sheer work not to just migrate it to a new system - but also update and modernize it thoroughly - was massive.
Of course, the work really never ends as we develop our applications constantly and release new features monthly, so creating, updating and improving our user guide contents is a constant undertaking.
What Does it Mean in Practice?
We have been planning to utilize AI in our documentation for some time now see this recent blog. We are now pleased to announce one major evolution which is based on the aforementioned groundwork: Introducing AI-powered search in our Solteq Commerce Cloud and Solteq Tekso online manuals.
The new search feature is not a normal "Google-type" search that we already have implemented in the manual - instead, it is much, much more. It is a generative AI that crawls, studies and learns from our product and its usage 24/7.
Using the AI-powered search in the online manuals enables you to ask for any help you might need. You can type “How do I start an inventory?” or “How do I create a new product?” and it will give you a summarized answer in seconds, with additional links for more details about the subject.
