The Finnish IT company Solteq will ring the closing bell at the NASDAQ Stock Exchange in New York on Friday 19 October 2012. The traditional Closing Bell Ceremony and visit to the NASDAQ OMX MarketSite in New York’s Time Square will crown Solteq’s 30 years as a software services provider.
- Thirty years is a great age for an IT company. A lot has taken place in the field of software services since Solteq was established in Tampere, Finland, in 1982. The IT sector has undergone huge upheavals and I believe that the past decades have given us the unique experience and understanding that will help us respond to new challenges and meet our clients’ demands also in the future, Repe Harmanen, Solteq’s CEO states.
The opening and closing bells of the NASDAQ Stock Exchange in New York mark the beginning and end of the trading day. Only few Finnish companies in a year have a chance to participate in the ceremony. The ceremony featuring the bell ringer is also broadcast live on international TV channels and on the NASDAQ Tower screen in the Time Square. - It is great to be able to celebrate Solteq’s 30 year history at the traditional bell ceremony and at the same time convey a message about the high level of the Finnish IT industry in such a legendary marketplace as NASDAQ New York, Repe Harmanen continues.
The ceremony can be seen live on Nasdaq’s website www.nasdaq.com/about/marketsitetowervideo.asx at 22.45 Finnish time.
