Press Release
November 30, 2020
Helen Oy, one of Finland’s largest energy companies, is renewing its customer information management and service system as part of its long-term cooperation with Solteq Plc. The value of the delivery agreement for the customer information management and service system, including the license fees and options, is approximately EUR 11.5 million. Solteq published a stock exchange bulletin about the business deal on September 30, 2020*.
Within the utilities sector, the electricity business in particular is undergoing a major transition. Plans to join the national Datahub in 2022, tighter price competition, growth of renewable forms of energy and new kinds of electricity delivery and resale models are challenging businesses to develop modern operating models and more cost-effective processes. Digital services are at the core of new functions and processes as well as customer experience.
To meet the needs of the changing energy industry, Helen is launching innovative product and service concepts. Helen sells and supplies electricity to more than 500,000 customers and provides district heating to more than 90 percent of real properties in Helsinki. Reliability, a high level of automation of information systems and the partner’s commitment to continuous development are critical success factors:
“It is important for us that, in addition to renewing our customer information management and service system, our partner is holistically committed to development work. Digitization is not a sprint, but a long-term investment in the future. We have found a partner that understands the industry and shares our passion for its development,” sums up Tuomas Teuri, CDO of Helen Oy.
During the past year, Solteq has achieved a significant market position as a provider of software and expert services in the utilities sector. Since 2020 began, the company has signed several supply and service contracts in the utilities sector, worth over EUR 22 million when the various contract options are included.
“We have deepened our cooperation with Helen through the biggest individual agreement in our company’s history. This cooperation will enable us to provide product development that meets the special needs of large companies. Next year, we will also aim more for the international market, and we have already made our first utilities customer deliveries this year,” says Solteq Plc’s CEO Olli Väätäinen.
